Barry Conrad is an Emmy, Telly, and B.E.T. award winning cinematographer and filmmaker from Fairfield, Ohio, currently working in California. He co-created the TV show My Ghost Story and directed/produced California’s Most Haunted, Legend of the Flatwoods Monster, and An Unknown Encounter: A True Account of the San Pedro Haunting. Conrad is a paranormal investigator on the side.

Intoxicated Zen are a Morgantown-based rock funk jam band. They released their first record in 2024.

Independent State is a multi-genre West Virginia-based Appalachian Soul Rebel Roots band. In 2024, they released their first record "The Wild and the Wonderful".

Minney dishes on the status of her canned erotic novela, using TMS therapy to treat depression, and a possible memoir. She also shares three of her poems.

Guest: Eliot Parker

Author Eliot Parker was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He’s released seven books to date. In the Spring of 2024, Parker was inducted into the West Virginia Literary Hall of Recognition for outstanding contributions to literature and West Virginia. He’s the recipient of the PenCraft and Featherd Quill book awards as well as the West Virginia Literary Merit Award. Kirkus magazine named Parker’s A Final Call as one of its Great Indie Books Worth Discovering in 2022. On top of being a published author, Parker is a writing teacher at the University of Mississippi and hosts the podcast Now, Appalachia. He resides in Oxford, Mississippi.

Author ⁠Eliot Parker⁠ dishes on his latest book “Table for Two: A Collection of Stories” and the Ronan McCullough crime thriller novels. Parker talks about growing up in Charleston, WV and coming out gay later in life. The author speaks candidly on the West Virginia Legislature trying to remove libraries, museums and schools from criminal liability exemptions over the display or distribution of materials deemed obscene during this year’s legislative session. He also chimes in on the appeal of adult children’s parody books and whether or not the world should forgive Madonna for her naughty coffee table book Sex. The crime thriller novelist also breaks down the recipe for writing a good book.

Horseburner is a West Virginia-based psych-stoner metal band compared to the likes of Mastodon and Baroness. The band has released three albums and tours nationally.

Horseburner's Adam Nohe, Jack Thomas, and Ryan Aliff dish on their upcoming 4th album "Voice of Storms, band history, stories behind the songs, and touring. The band discusses how COVID-19 impacted touring plans and how they juggle 9-5 jobs with writing, recording, and touring nationally. Guitarist Matt Stroebel was unable to participate in the interview.

Ann Magnuson is a Los Angeles-based actor and singer-songwriter from West Virginia. She's released 6 records (including two EPs) with Bongwater, and 4 solo releases. Her current single, "Ghost Cat" is available to download on I-tunes and Band Camp. Magnuson starred in the movies Making Mr. Right, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, Tequila Sunrise, Clear and Present Danger, Small Soldiers, Cabin Boy, Panic Room, Glitter, The Hunger, and Desperately Seeking Susan (to name a few). Magnuson's big claim to fame is her role as Catherine Hughes on the hit ABC series Anything But Love. Her other television credits include The Rugrats: All Grown Up, HBO's From the Earth to the Moon, Wanda at Large, The Drew Carey Show, Caroline in the City, and The John Larroquette Show. Here recently, Magnuson dropped the F-bomb on Jean Luc Piccard in Star Trek: Piccard. Magneson's theater work includes The Book of Liz, Four Dogs and a Bone, and The Vagina Monologues.

Tucker bassist and producer), and drummer Nathan Shrewsbury (The Big Bad, Irreplaceables, Ghost Fleet, Jerks, and Crown the Witch).

Episode 30: The Undeniable Comedy Tour

"The Working Class Comedian" Lee Mays' comedy career earned him multiple appearances on TMZ Live. He’s been featured on E! News, The Huffington Post, Yahoo, been in an independent cult film called "Black Mamba" (IMDB credited), and has played the LaughFest Comedy Festival. Mays has opened for Donnie Baker, Greg Hahn, Etta May,and  James Inman. He’s performed in Ohio, West Virginia and all over the Midwest including Chicago, Nashville, and Pittsburgh. Ohio native Mays started his comedy career in 2012 at the Newport Funny Bone in Newport, KY.

Kentucky comedian Jeromy Moore began his comedy career at the Funny Bone in Huntington, WV in 2007. He’s played improves in Florida, West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. Moore has opened for Jennifer Coolidge, Michael Winslow, Gallagher and Lesley Jordan. 

West Virginia comedian Jason Evans got his start at the Huntington Funny Bone in 2007. Evans has played comedy clubs up and down the east coast and in the Midwest, opening for such acts as Bob Zany and Theo Von..

Cathy Deobler is a Los Angeles, CA native, and recent West Virginia transplant. She is a retired public school teacher and stage and screen actress. Deobler is the Artistic & Managing Director of the Mountain Roots Community Theatre in Belle, WV.

Episode 25: Return of the Mothman

Calvin Grimm is an Iraq War vet whose directed numerous films including the doc "37 Fallen", and "West Virginia Standing Together", "Mountain of the Missing” and the historical drama "River of Hope" which won the 2020 Best Feature award at the West Virginia Filmakers Festival.

 

Herbert Gardner is an actor, writer, and retired mental health professional and private detective. Gardner began acting in the '90s primarily in commercial and educational videos, and also acting in local plays. He starred as Governor Aretus Fleming in "River of Hope".

West Virginia filmmakers Calvin Grimm and Herbert Gardner discuss their 2022 scifi-horror-thriller "Return of the Mothman", the infamous cryptid behind it and the newly revamped and reinstated West Virginia film tax credit. Grimm also discusses his doc "37 Fallen" and West Virginia State University historical drama "River of Hope."

"Return of the Mothman" is based on Logan County, West Virginia native Michael Knost's book of the same name.




Episode 24: The Ghostly World of Dr. Barry E. Taff

Guest: Dr. Barry E. Taff             

Dr. Barry E. Taff investigated and researched paranormal phenomena for over 50-years. Taff got his start at UCLA's famed parapsychology lab first helping with ESP (a.k.a. remote viewing) research and later researching poltergeists and hauntings. Taff was the lead researcher on The Entity(Doris Bither) case in 1974 and in 1989, investigated the San Pedro Haunting (Jackie Hernandez). 

Taff has appeared on numerous TV shows, docs and radio programs including Sightings, NBC's The Otherside, California's Most Haunted, Ghost Adventures, Zak Bagans' Demon House, and Art Bell's Coast to Coast. In 2010, Taff released a book about his work investigating and researching the things that go bump in the night titled "Aliens Above, Ghosts Below."

Legendary parapsychologist Dr. Barry E. Taff dishes on how he got into researching ESP, poltergeists and hauntings at UCLA's famed parapsychology lab and his parapsychology work following the lab's closure. Hernshaw Farms owner and agrepreneur George Patterson was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He opened Hernshaw Farms, a mushroom production company, on an old stripmine in Hernshaw in 2018.  Since that time Patterson has diversified his product line and moved operations to the Memorial Tunnel by Paint Creek.
